Home MenuDog-Friendly Places
In November 2024, the City of Fort Lauderdale passed a new rule allowing domestic, non-service dogs in all 110 parks across the city. This initiative allows pets to enjoy more public spaces while ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
When visiting Fort Lauderdale parks, please keep the following rules in mind:
- Dogs must be on a leash or tether no longer than six feet.
- Pets must be under the control of an adult owner or handler at all times.
- Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.
- Aggressive pets may be removed from the park by the city.
- Pets cannot create excessive noise that disturbs others.
- All dogs must have current vaccinations and a license.
- Pets are not allowed in athletic fields, courts, playgrounds, water splash pads, swimming areas, beaches, or any body of water unless permitted by law.
- Dogs and/or their owners who violate these rules are subject to removal from the park and possible suspension.
By following these rules, we can ensure Fort Lauderdale’s parks remain a welcoming and safe environment for everyone to enjoy.
