Chef Academy. February 23 - April 6, 2026. Mondays, 6-7 PM. Ages 6-12. South Side Cultural Arts Center, 701 S. Andrews Ave. Resident $40, Non-Resident $60.

Chef Academy 

Get ready to whisk, chop, mix, and bake your way into spring! Chef Academy is a fun, interactive cooking course where young chefs learn kitchen skills while creating delicious, seasonal recipes. Each session features seasonal cooking themes, allowing children to explore new ingredients, learn food preparation skills, and gain confidence while creating delicious dishes they can recreate at home. Participants practice basic knife safety, use of the stovetop and the oven, measuring techniques, and kitchen cleanup. All materials included. Ages 6-12.

Fiber Art Explosion 

Presented by the Avenue of the Arts Festival and the City of Fort Lauderdale, join us for two temporary fiber art installations, transforming both the exterior and interior of the South Side Cultural Arts Center.

Join our book club, where we dive into novels set in the captivating worlds of galleries, libraries, and museums. Explore fictional tales filled with intrigue, creativity, and history, and connect with a community that shares your passion for storytelling. Everyone is welcome!

 

Mommy and Me Handprint ABC's. February 3 - May 8, 2026. No class March 16-20. Tuesday & Thursday, 10-11 AM. South Side Cultural Arts Center.

Mommy & Me Handprint ABC's

This is a 13-week interactive art and literacy class designed for toddlers and their parents. Each week, children explore two letters of the alphabet through handprint art. Additional activities will include storytime, music and movement, or letter-themed snacks that complement the weekly project. Participants will create an ABC Handprint Book to take home at the end of the session. This class encourages early literacy, sensory play, creativity, and bonding time between parent and child. Ages 2-5.

Mommy & Me Music & Movement

Join us for a joyful 6-week class where toddlers explore music, rhythm, and movement with their grown-ups! Each week includes dancing, singing, creative play, bubbles, scarves, and fun props to help little ones build coordination and confidence. This is a perfect bonding experience filled with energy, imagination, and smiles!

 

One Plate Self Care Social. Tuesdays, 5-6:30 PM. Ages 18+. South Side Cultural Arts Center.

One Plate Self-Care Social

One plate. One moment. One community. One Plate Self-Care Social is a warm, community-centered gathering that blends mindful eating, music, creative reflection, and meaningful conversation. Participants cook one curated dish designed to nourish both body and mind while engaging in creative prompts. Each session focuses on creating personal plates using one pot, one casserole dish, or one pan. Ages 18+.

Open HeArt

Open HeArt offers a creative healing space through sketching and sound. Art and music come together to create calm, clarity, and creative release. Discover how music can influence your creative expression and cultural awareness. In this class you will learn to
enhance your sketchbook skills and develop your technique. Topics explored include creative healing, mindful observation, emotions in color, letting go of perfection, and more.

Join us for a fun-filled day for the entire family! Explore the programs at South Side Cultural Arts Center and get a sneak peek at what’s coming in the future. Highlights include arts and crafts, cooking demonstrations, karate demonstrations, and a Mexican dance class exhibition. There’s something for everyone. Don’t miss it! Open to all ages.

 

Toddler Art Explorers

Let your little artist get creative! This hands-on toddler art class introduces new projects each week using safe, simple materials perfect for tiny hands. Kids will paint, stamp, sculpt, explore textures, and express themselves through fun, colorful art activities. Parent participation is required. Ages 2–5.

Young Artist Sessions

This program introduces children to foundational visual art concepts while inspiring imagination, self-expression, and cultural awareness. Through hands-on projects, collaborative activities, and guided exploration, participants will develop their voices and get creative while learning techniques to grow as an artist.

Sips, Sounds, & Splats

Sips, Sounds, & Splats is an art and wine social with live music. Enjoy a culinary demonstration by Chef Marlon of Eats 876 Grill and a painting lesson by DJ the Artiste. The event is free to attend but does include a cash bar and a take-home canvas is available for $10.
